14 Days Gorilla Trekking Safaris Rwanda Culture & Wildlife Safari – Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

On your arrival at the Airport your safari guide will pick you and drive you to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: City Tour

You will have an early morning breakfast and then go for a Kigali city tour. You will visit different craft, centers, Genocide memorial Site, Museum and so many others depending on your time of arrival. You will have your dinner and overnight at the lodge of your choice.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After your breakfast, you will transfer to Volcanoes National Park which is about 3 hours. You will check in your lodge and then relax. You will have lunch and then can go for the golden monkey tracking in the forest.
You will have your dinner and overnight at the lodge of your choice.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking

You will have your breakfast and then transfer to the park headquarters at 8:00am for briefing about the gorilla tracking experience.

You will then head to the forest to look for the gorillas and the park rangers will be there to help you through.

You will spend one hour with the gorillas as you see how they feed, play, behave and also get the chance to have their photographs. You will your dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 5: Visit Musanze Caves, Dian Fossey

You will have breakfast and then transfer to the musanze cave where you will have a unique experience. You will see different bats and enjoy views of the twin lakes, and different wildlife attractions.

You will have lunch and then embark on your journey to Dian fossey where you will see the graves of gorillas that were conserved by Dian Fossey and her own grave.

You will hike the area and surely enjoy the experience. You will have your dinner and overnight at the lodge of your choice.

Day 6: Genocide Memorial Site, Nyanza Palace

You will have your breakfast and then transfer to Genocide Memorial Site a place where thousands of innocent people in Rwanda lost their lives.

You will hear very many touching stories and experiences that people had during that period. You will have lunch and then transfer to the Nyanza palace.
You will have your dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 7: Dain Fossey Visit, Transfer to Akagera National Park

After breakfast, you will have a visit to National Museum where you will see many traditional experiments.

You will then transfer to Akagera National Park having lunch en route.
You will have your dinner and overnight at the lodge of your choice.

Day 8: Game Drive, Boat Cruise

Early in the morning, you will go for the game drive where you may see animals like buffaloes, lions, chimps, giraffes and others.

You will then return to your lodge for breakfast and lunch. In the afternoon you will go to Lake Ihema for the boat cruise where you may see crocodiles, hippos, birds and others.
You will have your dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 9: Game Drive, Nature Walks

Early in the morning you will embark on a game drive in the forest where you will look out for the animals that you missed out the previous round.

You will then return to your lodge for breakfast and lunch. In the afternoon you will go for the nature walks where you will discover many things about the park.You may meet the local people who will tell you about their way of life.
You will have your dinner and overnight your lodge.

Day 10: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

You will have breakfast and then transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park. This is about 5 to 6 hours and it is 293km.

You will have lunch en route. On your arrival you can have an optional activity.
You will have your dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 11: Chimp Tracking

You will have breakfast and then transfer to the park headquarters for your briefing. You will then get to the forests to look out for the primates.

You will spend time with the shy chimpanzees as you see how they behave, play, feed and have their photo shoots.
You will have your dinner and overnight at the same lodge.

Day 12: Transfer to Kibuye Area, Boat Cruise

After your breakfast, you will transfer to Kibuye area where you can view Lake Kivu and there are Islands where you can enjoy good wildlife views.

You will have lunch and in the afternoon enjoy the boat cruise at Lake View where you may see birds and some primates. You will have your dinner and overnight at the lodge of your choice.

Day 13: Visit The Island

You will have breakfast and then visit the Islands where you will see birds and some primates where chance happens.

After you will have your lunch and in the afternoon, you can enjoy another boat cruise where you will see different primates. You will have your dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 14: Departure

You will have breakfast and then transfer back to Kigali to have your flight having lunch en route.
