12 Days Wildlife Safaris Uganda Rwanda Gorilla Trekking & Chimpanzee Tracking Safari Tour – Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to PNV

On your arrival at the Airport your safari guide will pick you and drive you to Volcanoes National Park for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking

You will have your breakfast and then transfer to the park headquarters at 8:00am for briefing about the gorilla tracking experience.

You will then head to the forest to look for the gorillas and the park rangers will be there to help you through.

You will spend one hour with the gorillas as you see how they feed, play, behave and also get the chance to have their photographs. You will your dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: City Tour

You will have an early morning breakfast and then go for a Kigali city tour. You will visit different craft, centers, Genocide memorial Site, Museum and so many others depending on your time of arrival.

You will then transfer to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. You will have your dinner and overnight at the lodge of your choice.

Day 4: Transfer to Uganda (Lake Bunyonyi)

You will have breakfast and then transfer to Lake Bunyonyi National Park in Uganda. This is 122km and it takes 3 hours to reach the park.

You will enjoy birding on the Islands as you see different birds like the Western Green Tinker bird, Short-tailed Warbler, Regal Sunbirds and others.

You will have lunch and in the afternoon enjoy the canoe ride at the lake where you will see different animals and birds mostly. You will have dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

You will have breakfast and then transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This is 110km and it takes 4 hours.

You will have briefing at the park headquarters after breakfast about the gorilla tracking activity. You will head to the forests to look out for the gorillas with the help of the game rangers who will pave you way and scare away the wild animals.

You will have to carry packed lunch and water. You will have dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 7: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Boat Cruise

You will have breakfast and then transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is 150km and it takes 5 hours.

You will have lunch at the lodge then in the afternoon enjoy the Boat cruise at Kazinga channel. Here you may see crocodiles, hippos, birds, some animals like the buffaloes, giraffes, elephants that may be taking a sip of water. You will have your dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 8: Game Drive, Chimp Tracking

Early in the morning, you will get to the forest for a game drive where you will catch up with the morning risers like the buffaloes, chimpanzees, zebras, giraffes, baboons, elephants, lions and much more.

You will come back at the lodge for a late breakfast and lunch. You will then go for an afternoon chimp trekking in kyambura gorge where you will enjoy the presence of the shy primates as you see how they eat, play, and have some photo shoots. You will have dinner and overnight at the same lodge.

Day 9: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park, Nature Walks

You will have breakfast and then transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. You will pass via the Ishasha sector to track the tree climbing lions.

The journey takes around 157km and it is a 4 hour drive. You will have your lunch and then prepare yourself for the journey the following day or you can reach out to the local people who will tell you about their life experiences. You will have dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 10: Chimp Tracking

You will have breakfast and then get briefing about the chimpanzee tracking from the park headquarters. You will then head to the forest to look out for the chimps.

You will see how they play, feed, and have their photo shoots. You will come back to the lodge for and in the afternoon enjoy the nature walks in Bigodi swamp where you will see different birds and primates. You will have dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 11: Transfer to Kampala

You will have breakfast and then transfer to Kampala which is 358km and takes 7 hours. You will view much wildlife along the way.

You will have lunch en route and enjoy your dinner and overnight at any hotel of your choice in Kampala.

Day 12: City Tour, Transfer to Entebbe

You will have breakfast and then your guide will pick you up for a city tour in Kampala. You will visit owino market, Namirembe cathedral, Rubaga cathedral, Bahai temple, Gadhafi mosque, Kabaka’s palace and Kabaka’s Lake, Parliament and others.

You will have lunch en route and then transfer to Entebbe to have your flight back.
