9-Day Uganda Safari: Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls

On your arrival, your safari guide will pick you and transfer you to Murchison Falls National Park. This takes 5 hours and it is 311km.

You will pass via the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track the rhinos, and you will have lunch in Masindi. On your arrival at the park, you will hike the falls, where you will see how water flows to the Nile River. You will have dinner and stay overnight at the lodge.

Day 2: Game Drive and Boat Cruise

Early in the morning, you will head to the northern part of the park for a morning game drive, where you will see the morning risers get out of their homes.

You can see buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, leopards, antelopes, baboons, and so many others. You will return to the lodge for breakfast and lunch.

In the afternoon, you will go on a boat cruise where you can see hippos, crocodiles, birds, and animals like buffaloes, zebras, and others. You will have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

You will have breakfast and then transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. You will pass via the Ishasha sector to track the tree-climbing lions.

The journey takes around 441 km, and it is a 9-hour drive. You will have your lunch en route as you also view different wildlife attractions. You will have dinner and stay overnight at the lodge.

Day 4: Chimp tracking, Nature walks

You will have breakfast and then get briefing about the chimpanzee tracking from the park headquarters. You will then head to the forest to look out for the chimpanzees.

You will see how they play, feed, and have their photo shoots. You will come back to the lodge and, in the afternoon, enjoy the nature walks in Bigodi Swamp, where you will see different birds and primates. You will have dinner and stay overnight at your lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

You will have breakfast and then transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This is 280km and it takes 7 hours.

You will have an optional activity like cultural encounters to meet the Batwa and see their traditional dances and hear their life experiences, or you can rest as you wait for gorilla tracking. You will have your dinner and stay overnight at the lodge of your choice.

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking

You will have briefing at the park headquarters after breakfast about the gorilla tracking activity. You will head to the forests to look out for the gorillas with the help of the game rangers, who will pave your way and scare away the wild animals.

You will have to carry packed lunch and water. You will have dinner and stay overnight at the lodge.

Day 7: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi National Park, Boat Cruise

You will have breakfast and then transfer to Lake Bunyonyi National Park. It is 4 hours and it is 110km.

You will have lunch at the lodge, and then you can have a boat cruise at the lake, where you will see different birds and animals, depending on your luck. You will have dinner and stay overnight at the lodge.

Day 8: Birding, Transfer to Lake Mburo, Boat Cruise

You will have breakfast and then visit the island, where you will see different birds like the Western Green Tinker bird, the Short-tailed Warbler, and others.

You will have lunch and then transfer to Lake Mburo National Park, which is around 160km and takes about 3 hours.

You can enjoy the evening boat cruise at the lake, where you will see different birds and primates. You will have dinner and stay overnight at the lodge.

Day 9: Game Drive, Transfer to Kampala

Early in the morning, you will go for a game drive in the park to look out for the morning risers as they get out of their homes, like the buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, leopards, antelopes, lions, baboons, and so many others.

You will get back to the lodge for your late breakfast and lunch. In the afternoon, you will transfer to Kampala or Entebbe Airport to have your flight back.
