5 Days Gorilla Safari Rwanda Chimpanzee Tracking Tour – Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kigali, City Tour

On your arrival at the Airport, your safari guide will welcome and you and briefly explain to you about your Rwanda safari.

You will drive to different historical areas like Genocide memorial site, museum, Dian fossey, craft shops. You will have your dinner and overnight at the lodge of your choice.

Day 2: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

You will have breakfast and after your safari guide will pick you up and drive you to Volcanoes National Park.

The journey is 116 km and it takes around 3 hours to reach the park. You will relax at your lodge, have lunch and in the evening you can go and enjoy cultural encounters with the local people who will tell you how they live their lives, what they eat, their local food and tell you many stories about them.

You will have your dinner and overnight at the lodge of your choice.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking

You will have breakfast and then head to the park headquarters at exactly 8: 00am to have briefing about your gorilla trekking experience.

You will carry packed food and a lot of water. You will then head to the forest and search for the gorillas with the help of the park rangers.

You will be given a maximum of one to relax with the gorillas, see how they feed, play and have their photo shoots. You will have your dinner and overnight at the same lodge.

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

You will have breakfast and then transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park. This is about 341km and takes around 9 hours to reach the park. You will have your dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge.

Day 5: Chimp Tracking, Back to Kigali

You will have breakfast and then transfer to the park headquarters for your briefing. You will then head to the forest with the park rangers to look out for the chimps.

You will spend time with the shy primates as you see how they behave, play, eat and have their photo shoots.

You will then go back to your lodge for lunch and after embark on your journey back to Kigali to catch up with your flight.
