10 Days Uganda Chimpanzee trekking Safari Rwanda Gorilla Safaris Tour – Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

On your arrival at the Airport, your safari guide will pick you and drive you to Nyungwe Forest National Park.

This is like 240km and it takes around 7 hours. On your arrival you will relax and wait for your activities the following day. You will have your dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 2: Chimp Tracking, Optional Activity

You will have breakfast and go for briefing at the park headquarters for briefing. You will go with the park rangers to search for the chimpanzees and after they are found, you will have time with them as you see how they behave and have their photo shoots.

You will to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon you may go for golden monkey tracking or enjoy the nature walks.
You will have your dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Transfer To Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast, you will transfer to Volcanoes National Park having lunch en route. This takes around 9 hours and it is 341 km.

You will view different wildlife attractions along the way. You will have your dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking

You will have breakfast you will transfer to the park headquarters for your briefing about the activity. You will forest with the game rangers who will help scare away the wild animals and pave you way to find the gorillas.

You will spend a maximum of 1 hour to see how the gorillas behave, have their photo shoots. You will carry packed food and a lot of water. You will have your dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Boat Cruise

You will have breakfast and then transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is 150km and it takes 5 hours.

You will have lunch at the lodge then in the afternoon enjoy the Boat cruise at Kazinga channel. Here you may see crocodiles, hippos, birds, some animals like the buffaloes, giraffes, elephants that may be taking a sip of water. You will have your dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 6: Game Drive, Chimp Tracking

Early in the morning, you will get to the forest for a game drive where you will catch up with the morning risers like the buffaloes, chimpanzees, zebras, giraffes, baboons, elephants, lions and much more.

You will come back at the lodge for a late breakfast and lunch. You will then go for an afternoon chimp trekking in kyambura gorge where you will enjoy the presence of the shy primates as you see how they eat, play, and have some photo shoots. You will have dinner and overnight at the same lodge.

Day 7: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park, Nature walks

You will have breakfast and then transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. You will pass via the Ishasha sector to track the tree climbing lions.

The journey takes around 157km and it is a 4 hour drive. You will have your lunch and then prepare yourself for the journey the following day or you can reach out to the local people who will tell you about their life experiences. You will have dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 8: Chimp Tracking

You will have breakfast and then get briefing about the chimpanzee tracking from the park headquarters. You will then head to the forest to look out for the chimps.

You will see how they play, feed, and have their photo shoots. You will come back to the lodge for and in the afternoon enjoy the nature walks in Bigodi swamp where you will see different birds and primates. You will have dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 9: Transfer to Kampala

You will have breakfast and then transfer to Kampala which is 358km and takes 7 hours. You will view much wildlife along the way.

You will have lunch en route and enjoy your dinner and overnight at any hotel of your choice in Kampala.

Day 10: City Tour, Transfer to Entebbe

You will have breakfast and then your guide will pick you up for a city tour in Kampala. You will visit owino market, Namirembe cathedral, Rubaga cathedral, Bahai temple, Gadhafi mosque, Kabaka’s palace and Kabaka’s Lake, Parliament and others. You will have lunch en route and then transfer to Entebbe to have your flight back.
