7-Day Gorilla Trekking Safari Uganda Chimpanzee Trekking Tour: Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National park

Depart from Kampala at your respective place of abode after breakfast for over 358 Km journey, taking about 3-5 hour drive. Lunch en route: Gardens restaurant, Fort portal.

Proceed with your drive to Kibale and upon arrival, you will visit the Ndali-Kasenda crater area in the evening (optional).

Accommodation at Ndali Lodge (Luxury/upmarket), CVK Resort (budget/basic) or Kibale forest camp (midrange/standard). FB.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking

Gather at Kanyanchu park headquarters for chimpanzee tracking activity at 08:00 or 02:00 hours, depending on the shift.

Briefing is a precondition before penetrating the forest in search of these habituated chimpanzees. This 2- to 3-hour experience is quite rewarding.

Encounter Bigodi wetland sanctuary for birds, sitatunga and community walk before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight. FB.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

After your breakfast, embark on your journey to Queen Elizabeth National park. Reach in Queen Elizabeth for lunch and visit the equator crossing site and the crater area in the evening for amazing scenic views.

Accommodation at Mweya Safari lodge (luxury, FB), Bush camp (midrange, FB) or Mweya hostel (budget, B&B).

Day 4: Encounter The Wild of Queen Elizabeth—The Royal Park

Wake up for an early morning game drive to encounter a variety of wildlife, such as Buffaloes, Elephants, Antelope, lions, and, if lucky a leopard, along with Warthogs and Baboons.

The tracks through Kasenyi and the North Kazinga Plains offer virtually guaranteed buffalo, antelope and elephant sightings, along with warthogs and baboons.

Together with our experienced guide, this early morning drive is a possible way to track down a pride of lions and maybe even the odd leopard.

Return to the lodge for breakfast. Relax in the pool waters or by reading a novel or travel books until lunch time.

Prepare to set off for an afternoon launch cruise on Kazinga channel, a gathering place for many animals in the park. Return to the lodge for the night. FB.

Day 5: Encounter the Ishasha Tree-Climbing Lions

After your morning breakfast, drive to Ishasha to be able to spot the tree-climbing lions in the mid-morning lying on fig trees in the south.

Proceed with the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable national park. Accommodation at Mahogany springs (luxury), Silverback lodge (midrange) and Engagi lodge (budget). FB.

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Wake up early in the morning, amidst the melodies of birds for a cup of coffee to prepare for the gorilla tracking activity.

Carry with you the lunch box, as the activity can stretch from 2 to 8 hours. Gather at the park headquarters for briefing at 8:00 before setting off for gorilla tracking in the mist of the forest.

After an extended trek through valleys and hills, it will seem as if it would be unachievable occasion when you unexpectedly come across these human-like apes taming the luxurious vegetation cover of Bwindi.

One hour is presented for you to generate adequate memories of this gorilla safari tour. After this historic gazing, return to the lodge for relaxation.

Day 7: Return to Kampala

Wake up for morning breakfast and transfer to Kampala. Lunch en route to Igongo cultural center. Make a stop at Mpambire, a drum-making village, to have a look at how drums are made locally. Arrive in Kampala in the evening.
